IWG GROVE LOCATION ANNOUNCED
COILLTE COMMISSION COMPETITION FOR IWG MEMBERS
We are delighted and very grateful that Coillte are welcoming us to Avondale House in Co. Wicklow (The birthplace of Irish Forestry) to plant 40 trees in a memorial grove as part of our 40th Anniversary celebrations . It will be a very special event attended by dignitaries, supporters and most especially you the members. We will have woodturning demonstrations on the day along with food and a tour of the estate.
Coillte would like to commission a piece, from an IWG member, to be turned from a Yew tree that was felled in the estate, which will remain on display in the Visitor Centre in Avondale. The award for the commission will be €1,000. Please send expressions of interest, along with 4 photographs of your work to Chair@IWG.ie by October 10th. The applications will be assessed and chosen by Coillte Management, and the successful applicant will be announced on the day of the tree planting in Avondale.
The event is likely to take place in late November, we will be sending out invitations nearer the time and we look forward to welcoming you all to this special occasion.
